Canva is an amazing tool for anyone with an online business (that knows they are not a designer!) Whether you’re in the world of e-commerce, affiliate marketing, lead generation, or online coaching or course creation - you will need a lot of design assets for your business.
Canva is absolutely brilliant in helping you to create these - particularly in the early days when cash flow is tight (or existent!) and you are doing many tasks yourself.
Admittedly you will want to move away from these tasks as soon as you can, unless you are passionate about doing them, as even with Canva, creating designs will eat into the time you need to spend on actually growing your business and generating income.
That said, it is a great resource and skill that you can develop, should you need to create something quickly and on the spot. You can even use it just to go through the motions and get a better idea of what you really want so that you can outsource the design more effectively.
So what sorts of things can you use Canva to help in your business….?!
With over 500,000 templates available, I think we can safely say “Plenty!”.
Here’s just 7 to give you an idea, but there is so much more…..
- Social Media Posts
There is an array of social media templates ready for you to access, edit and make your own. From Facebook Posts to Instagram Story templates - all of your social media is covered here and provided in the sizes required by each social media platform.
There are lots of designs to choose from and it really is as simple as picking one that you like and making a few changes to make it yours! Canva can even publish directly onto your social media channels - how’s that for a short cut? Once you have finalised your design templates, the creation of the posts can then become a straightforward task that can be handed over to your VA or staff member.
- Social Media Headers / Covers
Use Canva to get your social media channels looking spot-on! As with the social media posts, all templates are sized perfectly do you needn’t worry about the faff of having to look up the sizes required or having to re-size the images before uploading them to the site. Whatever you need to create, be it a Twitter Banner, Facebook Cover or even YouTube Channel art - you can do so here.
- Book Cover
You don’t have to be an author to use this tool, you might have an ebook that you want to sell or give away. This will take away the headache of creating an attention-grabbing cover that will appeal to your audience and make them want to read it. And one that you can use on your lead page, your blog or website. You can use this graphic to create a professional-looking 3d cover making it really stand out on the page.
- Lead Magnet
If you need to create the perfect lead magnet for your email list - Canva has plenty of options. You can use it to create an eBook, a presentation, a cheat sheet and pretty much anything else that you need to create quickly so that you can give it away. Have a browse through the templates and see which is the best fitting for your content.
- Business Cards
There are sooooo many different themes and templates for you to choose your business card design. Canva makes it super easy - even to the point that you can select by industry. But don’t panic if yours isn’t there, as there is so much choice and all you need to do is edit the parts that you want to make your own and Voila - you have a new business card ready for printing. Say goodbye to the time-consuming editors in business card design templates - and hello to the quickest business cards you have ever created!
- Coupons
These are brilliant to use in your email marketing or even to display on your website and encourage your audience to sign up to your list or purchase from you at a discount. Whether you need a one-page flyer style coupon or several on one page - the templates are all there waiting for you.
- Newsletter
Use Canva to design a smart monthly or weekly newsletter that your audience will engage with and want to read. Again there is a wide choice in themes and industries and it’s extremely unlikely that you will leave the site without having found one that is perfect for you.
There is so much choice in Canva and this is not even the complete list. In addition to all of this you can even create;
And as if that’s not enough - Canva is available for free! There is a premium account option, but everything that we have mentioned in this post is available through the free account - even photos that you can use in your marketing, for commercial purposes.
As you can hopefully see - Canva is on my top 10 must-have online marketing tools for very good reason!
Have fun with it! (although you might want to set aside a few hours when you first visit - for browsing….)
Have a great day! 😃
